Declaration on protecting the privacy of Internet users:
Important: Whenever you visit an Internet website or service, you run the risk of having your personal data gathered and used without your authorization.
“Personal data” is defined as all data making it possible to identify an individual by reference to one or more elements specific to that individual. The unauthorized use of your personal data is a breach of your privacy.
To protect yourself against this risk, you should always check that the Internet websites or services you visit have in place a privacy policy that protects your personal data.
Hi-media protects the privacy of its Internet users and has laid down the following privacy protection policy:
Privacy protection policy
Hi-media, a limited liability company (société anonyme) under French law with registered capital of 4,437,949.50 euros listed on the Paris Register of Trades and Companies under number 418 093 761 and with registered offices at 15/17 rue Vivienne – 75002 Paris, hereby informs Internet users of its privacy protection policy implemented as part of its “affinity-based ad targeting” activity.
This privacy protection policy respects the commitments Hi-media has undertaken with regard to the transparency and protection of personal data of Internet users visiting its network: Hi-media Performance.
1. Hi-media.
Hi-media is an online advertising network. Its activity consists of bringing Internet website publishers into contact with advertisers wishing to communicate via those websites, with the aim of making available to Internet users the most pertinent offer*.
Hi-media developed its affinity-based ad targeting activity as part of its drive to offer Internet users the experience of an Internet tailored to their interests whilst also meeting the expectations of advertisers.
*To find out more about the activities and services delivered by Hi-media, please visit our website, www.hi-media.com.
2. Affinity-based ad targeting.
Affinity-based ad targeting is a very simple operation for automatically associating an Internet user with an ad likely to be of interest.
Firstly, a Hi-media Performance cookie is placed on the computer of an Internet user visiting a website in the Hi-media Performance network.
3. Un « cookie ».
A cookie is a tiny computer file used by Internet professionals to exchange a restricted amount of information with the Internet user’s computer.
Cookies may be used, for example, to record the browsing preferences selected by an Internet user when visiting a website, or to record the login entered on a website requiring identification, or the content of a basket when shopping online, etc.
The features and information stored in each cookie vary according to the type of service and website it is associated with.
4. The Hi-media Performance cookie.
The Hi-media Performance cookie contains no information that can be used to identify or locate an individual Internet user. It is not shared, not used by third parties and communicates only with Hi-media Performance network systems.
The Hi-media Performance cookie contains only a number assigned to the Internet user’s computer and a series of references corresponding to websites visited.
Hi-media is thus able to determine that computer no. XXXXXXXXX browsed a certain website and accordingly trigger the display of advertisements bearing a relation to the website (and hence to the Internet user’s choices), without knowing where the Internet user is located and without being able to identify him/her.
Hi-media has no means of linking an Internet user to the number assigned to his/her computer. Furthermore, Hi-media cannot obtain any information regarding the Internet user’s computer from the assigned number. The Internet user’s privacy is therefore protected.
5. Hi-media Performance systems security.
Hi-media Performance systems use the latest Internet IT systems protection and security technology. The infrastructure and software architecture of the Hi-media Performance platform meet the most stringent Internet information security standards.
Hi-media devotes its best efforts to maintaining the quality and security of all the websites and services it publishes.
Regular quality and security checks are carried out on its data storage media.
6. Why this privacy protection policy?
In its affinity-based ad targeting activity, Hi-media does not gather information that may breach the privacy of Internet users. Given that we use cookies in this activity, however, we believe it to be our duty to inform Internet users of the fact, and of how the cookies operate and what information they contain.
Furthermore, we fully understand and accept that some Internet users may not consider affinity-based ad targeting as suitable or appropriate to them. Hi-media has therefore taken steps to include in its privacy protection policy a very simple means of opting out of the process, by clicking on the following link:
